What is Plain Good Sense?
Well, in a world this disoriented, good sense is hard to find. So, Plain Good Sense is my attempt to make some - through essays on law, leadership, faith, and the hard work of staying human. It’s part reflection, part commentary, and part field notes from a life spent inside institutions that don’t always make sense.
Some days I write about the law and leadership. Other days I’ll be thinking through the simple, quiet work of vocation and belief. But my through-line is simple: good sense still matters. And this is where I try to make a little of it.
Why I write it?
I’ve spent most of my adult life working in the kinds of places that shape other people’s lives – courtrooms, startups, nonprofits, and boardrooms. I’ve seen the ways good people get trapped in bad systems, and how easy it is to lose yourself to work that doesn’t serve anyone anymore. Writing is my way of sorting through that.
Who am I?
I’m Christopher Clark. By trade, I’m a corporate and entertainment lawyer based in Austin, Texas. I grew up in a small-town in east Texas, went off to law school, and, as quickly as I could, found my way back. My résumé is a little bit all over the place – I’ve advised founders, worked on public policy, and tried to build institutions that don’t fall apart under their own weight. At heart, I’m just someone who believes that clarity, fairness, and faith are still possible in the modern world.
What can you expect?
I publish when there’s something worth saying, not on a fixed schedule. Sometimes that means once a week, sometimes less. My goal isn’t to fill your inbox – it’s to offer something worth reading when it shows up.
If any of that sounds useful to you, you’re in the right place.
